This study purports to explore the problems and challenges that university instructors encounter when using Web applications in literature courses in Ha'il University. This study was designed as a descriptive case-study triangulating several data collection methods such as semi- structured interviews and observation. The data of the interviews and observation were analysed using thematic analysis. The results showed that the challenges consist of lack of necessary training and support, individual differences in accepting and incorporating Web applications among students, and contextual such as university policy and restrictions, lack of time and access, and technical difficulties. Further research is needed in identifying the various problems instructors face in using Web 2.0 applications in teaching literature and explaining how these difficulties influence the effectiveness of Web applications in teaching literature. It is recommended that universities pay more attention on supporting instructors to incorporate Web applications in teaching literature.
